Radio Engineering Group @ HTW-Berlin FB1

 

The Radio Engineering Group is located at the HTW Campus „Wilhelminenhof“ in Berlin. Currently it consists of one scientist, one project member, 2 student co-workers, an intern and the head of the group. The group cooperates with different laboratories on the campus: digital electronics, microwave and measurement and instrumentation and also with local and international companies. The main focus lies on

- Signalprocessing in communication
- Wireless data Communication
- Radio systems

The group is imbedded in the competence center "Media, Nets and Mobile Computing", this is a loose association of researching university teachers at the HTW.

The goal is to develop a methodology to generate radio technology, quasi “on demand”, adapted to the actual application. In this respect

modules for elementary parts of communication and transmission procedures have been developed (or are in the stage of development) such that a combination of appropriate coding, spreading, modulation and synchronisation and equalisation procedures can be applied. The developments concentrate on transceiver elements for single carrier systems a final low power consumption and low hardware complexity.

Of particular interest is the development of extensions conforming to the IEEE 802.15.4 with respect to higher data rates and better resistance to interference in highly disturbed environments and such with strong multipath fading.

 

Arbeitsgruppe Funktechnik @ HTW-Berlin FB1

Die Arbeitsgruppe Funktechnik befindet sich auf dem HTW Campus "Wilhelminenhof" in Berlin. Derzeit besteht sie aus einem Wissenschaftler, einem Projektmitarbeiter, 2 studentischen Mitarbeitern, einem Praktikanten und dem Leiter der Gruppe. Die Arbeitsgruppe ist Teil des Kompetenzfeldes Media, Netze und Mobile Computing.

Die Hauptinteressensgebiete sind:

- Signalverarbeitung in Kommunikationstechnik

- Drahtlose Datenübertragung

- Funknetzwerke

Ziel der Arbeitsgruppe Funktechnik ist es, Methoden zur Herstellung von "on demand" - Funktechnik zu entwickeln, angepasst an die jeweilige Anwendung. In diesem Zusammenhang wurden Module für elementare Teile der Kommunikation und der Übertragung entwickelt (bzw. werden gerade entwickelt), sodass entsprechende Programmierungs-, Verteilungs-, Modulierungs-, Synchronisations- und Entzerrungsprozeduren angewendet werden können. Die Entwicklungen konzentrieren sich dabei auf Transceiverelemente für einzelne Bauteile von Trägersystemen bei möglichst geringem Energieverbrauch und geringer Komplexität der Hardware.

Von besonderem Interesse ist die Entwicklung von Erweiterungen konform zu IEEE 802.15.4 im Zusammenhang mit höheren Datenraten und verbesserter Störanfälligkeit.

Von den Mitgliedern der Arbeitsgruppe werden regelmäßig Weiterbildungskurse zu den Themengebieten Matlab/Simulink, VHDL, Embedded Systems und Model Based Design angeboten.
